Class: Senior Project
1. What got you into teaching? I was working as a district employee and I was approached to see if I was interested in teaching. I was given 14 students to finish out a semester and then was given a full schedule to start the next year.
2. How long have you been teaching at Riverside Prep? What brought you here? I have been at Riverside Prep for 8 years. I was looking for work, applied, got interviewed and hired.
3. What do you like about teaching at Riverside Prep? I love the small feel of it and the camaraderie between teachers and students. The support of the administration has always felt good also.
4. What do you like most about teaching high school students? The ability to see the lights go on when you know you have taught them something and they recognize it for themselves.
5. What's your favorite moment in teaching? I have always tried to let my students know that I have tremendous respect for them and that I care about them individually and collectively. To have them respond is what has made teaching rewarding.
6. What does it mean to be the High School Teacher of the Month? It is a real honor for me to receive this recognition from my peers, who I have a great deal of respect for. There are so many who also deserve this award.
