Before coming to Riverside Prep Middle School Mr. Colvin’s professional experience included thirteen years of teaching in the areas of General Science, Life Science, Earth Science, Biology and Honors Level Human Anatomy and Physiology. Mr. Colvin has worked with and supervised ASB/Student leadership and has been a Senior Class Advisor. Mr. Colvin was a Science Department Chairperson for five years, he worked five years as a High School Administrator at a large comprehensive high school and worked one year as a Child Welfare and Attendance/School Attendance Review Board/Expulsion Chairperson.
Mr. Colvin’s philosophy of education is: All students should receive a solid educational foundation in a safe, highly structured, learning environment that includes highly qualified teachers utilizing technology, using best teaching practices, and incorporating Problem Based Learning with real-world applications in order to develop successful and productive life time learners.P

Mrs. Kyla Rivera currently serves as the elementary principal. Prior to this year, she served as the secondary Dean and Academic Counselor. She has also taught at Riverside Prep. and in Apple Valley School District.
Mrs. Rivera has a Bachelor’s Degree in the Social Sciences, a Master’s Degree in Education, a multiple subject credential and an administrative credential. She is excited to have the opportunity to work with the dedicated teachers, amazing students and supportive parents at Riverside Prep. When Mrs. Rivera is not at school she enjoys spending time with her wonderful family, traveling, and reading.
